Feature
● Three-Step Process: Brush, Cut, Fold Back — in One Cycle
The EW-1060 brushes the exposed shield braid to align and separate the woven strands, cuts the braid to the programmed length, then folds the remaining braid section back over the cable jacket — all within a single automated cycle. Folding the braid back (rather than trimming it flush or removing it entirely) keeps a defined, secured length of shield material in contact with the jacket surface, which is the preferred termination geometry when the shield braid itself will be clamped or contacted for grounding, rather than connected via a separate drain wire.
● Selectable Fold-Back Length — 3mm, 5mm, 6mm, or 8mm
The folded-back braid length is selectable from four preset options: 3mm, 5mm, 6mm, or 8mm, allowing the finished braid termination to match the specific clamp or contact geometry required by the connector or shielding hardware in use. This preset-based selection (rather than a fully continuous adjustment) speeds up changeover between different cable specifications using the touchscreen.
● Foot Switch Operation with Integrated Waste Containment
A foot switch initiates the cycle, keeping both operator hands free to position and hold the cable during processing — particularly important when working with fine cable diameters near the 3.0mm lower limit where precise hand positioning affects brush and cut alignment. An integrated waste receiving box captures the cut metal braid fragments as they fall, preventing the splash and workspace contamination that loose, sharp metal shavings create when shield braid is cut without containment.
● High-Definition Touchscreen with Protective Cover
All process parameters are set on a high-definition digital touchscreen, with a protective cover over the brushing and cutting mechanism for both operational safety and easy access during setup. This combination addresses the dual requirement of fast parameter changeover and operator protection from the rotating brush and cutting elements during the automated cycle.
Application Range
Mobile device fast-charging cable and USB data cable production
USB-C and proprietary fast-charging cables increasingly incorporate shielded data conductors to meet EMI suppression requirements at higher charging currents and data transfer rates. The EW-1060's 3.0–9.0mm range covers the cable diameters typical of these consumer charging cable constructions, with the folded-back braid providing a clean shield termination for the cable's connector housing assembly.
Shielded network and Ethernet cable termination
Shielded twisted pair (STP/SFTP) network cables (Cat6, Cat6A) require braid shield preparation at connector ends for RJ45 shielded jack termination. The EW-1060's brush-cut-fold-back sequence produces the consistent braid geometry required for reliable shield continuity through the connector's grounding contact.
Signal transmission and instrumentation shielded cable
Industrial signal transmission cables and instrumentation wiring use braided shield constructions to prevent electromagnetic interference on sensitive measurement and control signals. The EW-1060's selectable fold-back length (3/5/6/8mm) accommodates the different shield termination geometries specified across various instrumentation connector standards.
Automotive shielded sensor and communication cable harness
Shielded sensor cables and in-vehicle communication cables (CAN, LIN bus shielded variants) in automotive applications require consistent braid shield preparation for grounding clip or shield clamp termination. The 700–1,000 pcs/h throughput supports the production volumes typical of automotive Tier 1 sensor cable sub-assembly lines.
